Clinician and practice information

Find out about clinicians who work at our site and latest information about the practice.

Latest update

O’Brien Street Practice has been providing care to people for over thirty years. Dr. William Donohue, in his position as CALHN Senior Medical Practitioner, was integral in the provision of HIV services at O’Brien Street Practice in addition to being a trusted private GP and friend to many. Historically, O'Brien Street Practice has operated with a range of private practitioners and salaried clinicians.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Donohue in February 2025, and recognise this continues to be a very difficult and distressing time for many. We would like to assure our consumers that the practice will remain open, with a focus on providing ongoing treatment for people living with HIV.

Dr Tim Bromley, Sexual Health Physician, is currently consulting and is available for anyone who was seeing Dr Donohue for HIV-related care.

For people who attend O’Brien Street Practice and saw Dr Donohue as their GP, we recommend finding a GP practice that best meets your needs to manage any ongoing health care, not directly related to HIV medicine. Access to care is important and we can assist in connecting you to care as needed. We will also support the transfer of medical records on your request, at no cost to you.

For people who attend O’Brien Street Practice and see Dr Turnbull, note that Dr Turnbull consults as a private independent practitioner and provides mixed billing.

Those with a Commonwealth concession (such as valid Aged Pension Card, Disability Pension Card and Health Care Card) will be bulk billed, with no out of pocket cost. Those without a concession card will be charged a Consultation Fee at Dr Turnbull’s discretion and your Medicare Rebate will be processed for you on the day.

Discuss this with Dr Turnbull during your consultation or contact the practice for any enquiries.

In the meantime, for any clients requiring immediate assistance who are unable to access a GP at this time or if you would like to provide any feedback, contact us via phone or email.

The staff at O’Brien Street thank you for your understanding.

Clinician updates

We continue to have both SA Health-employed doctors, nurses and support staff, as well as private independent practitioners working onsite at our practice.

Training opportunities for clinicians

Rainbow Tick Accreditation

We are working towards achieving Rainbow Tick Accreditation at O’Brien Street Practice.

The Rainbow Tick is a quality framework that assists health and human services organisations to show that they are safe, inclusive and affirming services and employers for the LGBTIQ community.

Integrated Care is convening a working group to support this work.

Learnings through this valuable process have and will continue to be incorporated into relocation planning.

Become an s100 prescriber

Our Medical Lead is working with the Communicable Disease Control Branch (CDCB) to promote further training options for South Australian doctors interested in becoming an s100 prescriber.

ASHM is running its next course in July 2025. Enrolments are encouraged directly through ASHM training portal.

Relocation update

We are required to relocate due to challenges with our current physical location, but we are and will continue to be providing services to the community.
