Download nowAmong key achievements is the completion of the Kangkanthi clinical services building at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH), a state-of-the-art facility developed with input from consumers and workforce.
Kangkanthi, meaning “to care” marks the culmination of a $314 million redevelopment project and embodies CALHN’s dedication to culturally safe and welcoming spaces.
We also strengthened critical services at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH), where an enhanced emergency department, featuring a rapid assessment zone, now accelerates patient care. This year, the RAH Trauma Service achieved Level 1 verification, reaffirming its role as South Australia’s top trauma centre, while the SA Adult Burns Centre celebrated 50 years of pioneering care, now treating thousands of patients annually.
Out-of-hospital initiatives such as the Sefton Park Hospital Avoidance Program (now referred to as BRIGHT) continued to meet community needs, reducing hospital admissions by offering effective care close to home. The opening of a second BRIGHT location at Woodville demonstrates the importance of this service.
We continue to look at ways to provide care for the community and in October we opened the Care of the Older Persons and Community Transition service at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre. This site is a temporary place for older patients to receive care outside hospital while they await their next place in the community.
