Consumer partnering

Central to CALHN's culture is our commitment to collaborate with consumers and community. Learn how to get involved as a Consumer Representative or Consumer Advocate.

We have teams of dedicated consumer partners, embedded at all levels of the organisation, who help shape our services by contributing to the design, delivery and evaluation process.

Our Consumer Representatives and Advocates partner with us in a variety of roles, including:

  • sitting on decision-making committees across CALHN
  • providing service feedback
  • reviewing consumer information sheets
  • being a member of safety and quality improvement teams.

Do you have lived experience of CALHN’s services and want to be part of shaping the future?

CALHN is actively seeking consumers from a range of backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.

Opportunities exist for all consumers with lived experience of our service in the last two years as a patient, family member or carer to become one of our Consumer Representatives or Consumer Advocates.

Consumer Representatives are selected to sit on decision-making committees across CALHN, often the safety and quality committees within each program.

Consumer Advocates work with clinicians and consumers on the wards of our hospitals, or at the point of care at one of our many sites, conducting surveys with patients.

Joining us means you will be part of a team of like-minded individuals contributing to improving our services for all South Australians. We actively encourage consumers with cultural, language or support needs to apply.

As a Consumer Representative or Advocate, you are also reimbursed for your time and offered ongoing training, support and assistance throughout your time at CALHN.
